Brands may assume they know their total market’s reaction to a particular societal cause, but as Bud Light discovered, much deeper insights into their customers’ lives and motivations are essential before taking a position.

It’s clear that observation of transactional data is not enough to address C-suite questions. We are collecting more data than ever, but the industry still fails to properly answer the “whys.”
